FSM Essential Recap: Las Vegas High School Football Playoffs- Round 3 – 2023 – Green Valley vs Faith Lutheran

This week, the FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week was at Green Valley vs Faith Lutheran for the  5A/D2 Southern Section Final game. The Crusaders won 37–0 to advance to the NIAA Final.

The game of the week was Green Valley vs Basic.

The FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week was the NIAA 5A/S2 Southern Section final between Faith Lutheran and Green Valley. 

Faith Lutheran upset Foothill last week, while Green Valley upset Basic. Green Valley finished fourth in the league, while Faith Lutheran finished third. 

The winner would take on Spanish Springs or Bishop Manogue on November 21st at Allegiant Stadium in the NIAA 5A/D2 Finals. 

These two teams matched up in a week four game when Faith Lutheran kicked their 58-yard field goal to win the game—with the weather cooling off, this game had the makings of a battle. 

Faith Lutheran jumped out to a quick 70 lead after a touchdown on their second possession. The Crusaders forced a Gator punt, drove down the field, and settled for a field goal. 

After another Gators punt, Faith Lutheran kicked another field goal to take a 13–0 lead. The Crusaders once again scored a touchdown to take a 20–0 lead late in the second quarter. 

The second half got much worse for the Gators, and the Crusaders put their foot on the gas pedal. Faith Lutheran cruised to a 37–0 victory over Green Valley, advancing to the state finals, taking on Bishop Manogue on November 21st at Allegiant Stadium.

The final score in the Green Valley vs Basic game was the Wolves beating the Falcons, 24-14.

The number #1 ranked team in the nation, the Bishop Gorman Gaels, will take on Liberty on November 21st at Allegiant Stadium for not only the 5A Division 1 title but also a High School National Championship. Both teams had a BYE this week. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The top team at the 4A level, the #5 Centennial Bulldogs, beat Somerset Academy in a come-from-behind 35-28 win. The Bulldogs scored with just 20 seconds left in the game. They will now advance to the NIAA 4A Finals and play Sunrise Mountain, who beat Canyon Springs 6-0.

In the NIAA 5A/D3 Southern Section Final game, Legacy beat Palo Verde 34-18 to advance to the state final game. They will take on Galena, with that game taking place in Reno at Mackay Stadium.

 

Green Valley vs Basic was a battle between two rival schools.
