702HSFB is finally back under the Friday Night Lights as the 2023 High School Football season is back!

Las Vegas High School Football is back!

This week’s Las Vegas high school football scene is ready for a re-do since Week 1 was canceled for most of the teams around the valley due to lightning and heavy rains. 

The FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week is the clash between Centennial High School and Palo Verde High School. These two former perennial rivals are considered the front-runners for their respective divisions and are set to take place in Northwest at Palo Verde. On paper, it’s anyone’s guess who will win this game.

Another game that has garnered national attention is the face-off between Bishop Gorman High School and Long Beach Poly High School in Portland, Oregon, in the Nike Football Kickoff Classic. Bishop Gorman and their high-powered offense face Long Beach Poly, a school with a rich football tradition of its own. This game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair and a game filled with big plays. 

Desert Pines High School squares off against Faith Lutheran High School in a game that contrasts styles. The Crusaders won last week on a last-second field goal over Palo Verde while DP had their game canceled. The two teams ranked in the FSM Prep Rally Top 10 square off at Faith Lutheran. 

 

Arbor View journies beyond state lines, heading to Arizona to face Pinnacle. Meanwhile, Mojave faces off against Canyon Springs on the Northside of town. 

Lastly, in an exciting non-conference matchup, St. Louis High School from Hawai’i comes to The Ninth Island to take on Liberty in the first game of The Island Classic Football Games on Saturday evening, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. This game could be a good test for Liberty, ranked #2 in the FSM Prep Rally Top 10, who are looking for their first win after losing to St. John Bosco last week. You can bet there will be some island flair on the mainland at Liberty High School on Saturday evening.

FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week: Centennial @ Palo Verde

Centennial takes on Palo Verde in Week 2 #702HSFB action

The Centennial Bulldogs are geared up to face off against one of their long-standing rivals, Palo Verde. This year is different, though, with a new era happening at Centennial. New Head Coach DJ Campbell brings a fresh approach and one of the most complete teams when they face off against their long-time rivals.

Coach Campbell has got his players to buy into what he is preaching. The players have embraced his philosophy, and the culture Coach Campbell is instilling in the locker room has been welcomed by his players. The team believes what Coach Campbell has been telling them all offseason, that this season would be transformative and the springboard to turning around the once proud Bulldogs program.

Palo Verde, led by Head Coach Joe Aznarez, is one of the favorites at the 5A Division 2 level. Years of rebuilding the Panthers program has Palo Verde in a position, on paper, to be a team that can compete for a state title, but first, they have to get by The FSM Game of the Week and a clash against the Bulldogs.
