FSM recaps the action from Week 5 all across the Valley. This week, we featured a matchup of the two top teams in the state and an upset win that shook up the rankings!

FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week: Liberty vs Bishop Gorman

The Game of the week was Liberty vs Bishop Gorman.

This week’s FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week saw the two top teams in Nevada face off in an early season matchup that will surely be a preview of the 5A/Division 1 championship game. Liberty traveled to Bishop Gorman to take on the Gaels on Thursday Night in the FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week.

Liberty came out and tried to control the clock with their ground game. But an early fumble set up a Devon Rice touchdown run. After another liberty fumble, Bishop Gorman scored another touchdown to take a 12-0 lead early in the second quarter. 

The game started to get chippy in the second quarter, but Bishop Gorman was in complete command of the game. The Gales had a 27-0 lead headed into halftime.

In the third quarter, Bishop Gorman scored quickly on a Micah Ka’Apana TD run. Liberty struck back with an 80-yard touchdown reception from Jayden Robertson. The final score came in the fourth quarter when Myles Norman had a 60-yard touchdown run.

Bishop Gorman had touchdowns from Rice, Elija Lofton, Ka’Apana, Audy Harris, and Norman. Liberty’s lone touchdown came from Robertson. The final score was 49–6 Bishop Gorman over Liberty.

Next week, Bishop Gorman travels to take on Silverado while the Patriots take on Cathedral Catholic out of San Diego, California. 

The final score in the Liberty vs Bishop Gorman game was the Gaels beating the Patriots, 49-6.

In a game that will most certainly shake up the FSM Prep Rally Top-10 Rankings, the #3 ranked Desert Pines Jaguars traveled northwest to take on the #8 Shadow Ridge Mustangs. In an upset, the Mustangs beat the Jaguars 21–20. 

With a three-point lead and just about a minute left in the game, Shadow Ridge, on fourth down, wisely ran the ball to kill time and took a safety, leaving Desert Pines only enough time to run two plays to try and create a miracle win. But it wasn’t meant to be tonight for the Jaguars, as their Hail Mary fell short, and Shadow Ridge came away with the win. 

In other action, the Faith Lutheran Crusaders rallied from 17 down to beat the Basic Wolves 24–23 in overtime. Desert Oasis traveled north to Cheyenne and defeated the Desert Shields 22–0.

Arbor View took on Coronado and defeated the Cougars 38–0, while Cimarron-Memorial beat Spring Valley 16–14. The #5 Foothill Falcons beat Legacy 41–39, while #6 Centennial blew out Western 63-0. Lastly, Slam Academy beat Moaoa Valley 34-7. 

Liberty vs Bishop Gorman was a blowout, but other teams played well, too.
