New FSM Preview – Las Vegas High School Football – Week 10 – 2022

It’s Week 10 of the 702 high school football season, and throughout the valley, league championships are on the line in the final week of the regular season. This week, the FSM Prep Rally travels to Liberty High School as the Patriots host the Desert Pines Jaguars in a game that will determine the 5A Southern Mountain League champions.

 

Through 10 weeks of this high school football season, some contenders have looked almost flawless throughout the year, while others have had to overcome adversity to remain in the hunt.

The 7-1 Desert Pines Jaguars have been elite throughout the 2022 season. After losing a close game in the season opener to out-of-state opponent Orem, the Jaguars went on a role racking off seven straight victories. During their seven-game winning streak, Desert Pines defeated each of their opponents by at least 18-points and outscored their opponents 300-66 throughout the year.

The Jaguars‘ offense has been successful all season with a rushing attack that has tallied over 1400 yards and 21 touchdowns through eight games. On the defensive side, Desert Pines has shut out three different opponents this year and have only given up more than 10-points in two games. With a stout running attack and stingy defensive presence, the Jaguars have bullied teams all year and will be just as physical this week as they face last year’s league champs, Liberty.

 

It has been a challenging year for the 5-3 Patriots. After starting the year with a 39-7 blowout victory against Palo, Liberty lost their next three games in which they faced three different out-of-state opponents. Beginning the year 1-3, the Patriots turned their season around in week 5 with a victory against their fourth straight out-of-state opponent. From there, Liberty won their next three games in league play and set themselves up to be in a position to compete for a League title for the second year in a row.

This week’s FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week will be a competitive showdown between two of the most physical and talented teams in the valley. Friday, the Liberty Patriots will look to continue their long reign over the 5A Southern Mountain league. In contrast, the Desert Pines Jaguars will look to cap off their dominant season with a league title going into the post-season.
