New FSM Preview: Las Vegas High School Football – Week 6 – 2022
Week 6 of the 2022 season is here, and with it comes another round of big matchups throughout the Valley. Starting the week off, undefeated FSM #6 ranked Faith Lutheran hosts #2 ranked Liberty for the FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week.
Two FSM top-ranked teams face off as the #2 Liberty Patriots travel to the #6 ranked Faith Lutheran Crusaders for the FSM-Prep Rally Game of the Week.
Coming into the 2022 season, the #6 ranked Crusaders have been this year’s surprise team. The Crusaders have gone undefeated in 2022 with a record of 5-0 and have outscored their opponents 169-50 on the year.
The Crusaders have been solid on both sides of the ball this season. Offensively, Faith Lutheran is led by a strong rushing game, with sophomore Cale Breslin averaging just over 117 yards rushing per game and five touchdowns on the year. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Vicentico Pringle has been a menace as he leads the team in tackles (9 per game), interceptions (4 on the year), and sacks (T-3 on the year).
Faith Lutheran will need to come ready on both sides of the ball as they take on the #2 ranked Liberty Patriots.
Liberty comes into this week 2-3, with all three losses coming from out-of-state competitors. Week 6 will be the first time the Patriots will face an FSM-ranked team, as well as a solid Nevada opponent. With a victory this week, the Patriots will justify their #2 ranking, while a loss will drastically change the FSM rankings as we advance.
#4 hosts #1 as Bishop Gorman travels to Arbor View in a week 6 FSM heavy-weight bout.
Since their week two loss to Mater Dei, Bishop Gorman has gone 3-0 against out-of-state opponents and has averaged 57-points through their 3-game winning streak. This week, the Gaels open league play against one of the best teams in Las Vegas, the Arbor View Aggies, who have stayed undefeated through the 2022 season and stand in first place in the 5A Southern Football Division.
With a record of 4-0, Arbor View has remained perfect this year after facing two out-of-state and two Nevada opponents. The Aggies are led by junior Makhai Donaldson, who has been on a tear this year with an average of almost 123-yards rushing per game and five rushing touchdowns on the year.
The Aggies have already totaled 1107-yards rushing through the first four games of this season and will need to continue their potent rushing attack as they take on the Gaels, who stand as the #8 nationally ranked team.
In the biggest regular season game of the year for the 5A Southern Football Division, Arbor View and Bishop Gorman will make for a can’t-miss competition to establish who is truly the top dog in the division and who stands as the most dangerous Nevada 5A team.
