Week 7 of the High School Football Season is here! This week, the Basic Wolves and Las Vegas Wildcats compete for the top spot in the 4A Mountain league in this Week’s FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week.

 

As we inch closer to the end of the high school football regular season, teams across the valley face their toughest challenges as they compete for the top spots in their league as well as a spot in the 2022 playoffs.

This week, in the FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week, 5-1 Basic travels to 4-1 Las Vegas as both teams look to take the lead in the 4A Mountain league. 

The Basic Wolves have been impressive through the first 6 weeks of the 2022 season. Before losing last week against the Green Valley Gators, the Wolves were undefeated through their first 5 games. During that streak, Basic was dominant on both sides of the ball as they outscored their opponents, 170-16. Sitting at 5-1, the Wolves lead the 4A Mountain league and look positioned to be legit contenders this year in the 4A division. This week, they face their biggest challenge of the year as they face off against their first league opponent, the 4-1 Las Vegas Wildcats.

The Las Vegas Wildcats have had an impressive season of their own in 2022. After losing their season opener against out-of-state opponent Pine Creek, the Wildcats went on a four-game win streak, including defeating their first league opponent last week as they defeated Clark, 55-20.

FSM ranked #10 Basic and #9 Las Vegas in this week’s FSM Prep Rally Top 10 rankings. Both have had successful seasons so far this year and stand as the leading contenders in their league. Now in week 7, they will face off to determine who is truly the best team in the 4A Mountain League and the bigger threat going into the post-season.

 

Two 5A Southern-Desert League contenders face off this week as Abor View travels to Palo Verde:

 

The Aggies come into week 7 after a devastating loss to Bishop Gorman in their first league game, losing 63-0. Despite the loss, the Aggies still stands as one of the best teams in the 5A division and will be a threat to anyone they play in the post-season. Moving forward, Arbor View will look to get back on track and maintain their 2nd place position in their league as they move on to take on their second league opponent of the year in Palo Verde.

Palo Verde had a tough start to the 2022 season after losing three out of their first four games. The Panthers have since gone on a two-game winning streak and now sit in third place in the 5A Southern-Desert League. A win against Arbor View this week could help the Panthers make a late-season run and become legit threats in the postseason.

With nationally ranked Bishop Gorman leading their league, it will be difficult for either Palo or Arbor View to move into the first place slot, but a win on Friday would help both teams in their own respected seasons. Arbor View will look to get a win on Friday to help secure their seating in the playoffs, while Palo will attempt to shock the division and build momentum going into the back-end of this year.
