As the 2022 season progresses into week 3, we’ve already seen some FSM top-ranked teams take their first loss of the season. However, one team that still stands perfect is the 1-0 Silverado Skyhawks. Silverado has only played one game so far this year, having a bye in week 2, but they showed in their lone matchup that it will be a challenge for any team to get a win off of them this year.

In their season debut against Centennial, the Skyhawks scored 57 points, with 42 being scored in the first half of the game. Leading the Skyhawks’ high-powered offense, Senior ATH Donavyn Pellot put the city on notice with a humble stat line of 124 yards receiving, 92 yards rushing, and two touchdowns. Another stand-out performance came from Silverado’s senior RB Caden Harris, who rushed for 105 yards and scored two touchdowns. With an offense that can blow you out, passing or running the ball, and possess players that are a threat to have career games every week, Silverado will be hard to keep up with going forward into the season.

As a 4A level team, the explosive Skyhawks made quick work of 5A Centennial and will look to do the same this week as they take on another 5A team, Palo Verde.

The Panthers are coming off their first win last week and now stand with a record of 1-1 this year. Palo Verde looked good through the first three-quarters of their week two game, outscoring their opponent, 28-7. Despite a fourth-quarter comeback from their opponent, Palo still notched the win and will look to build upon it going forward into the season. A stand-out player to look for on Palo’s roster will be Junior TE/DE Jake Fields, who had three sacks on defense and two touchdowns on offense in the Panther’s week two victory.

After a heart-wrenching loss in week 2, Bishop Gorman moves forward and shifts focus to week three opponent, St. Louis, Hawai’i.

Despite losing to Mater Dei in week 2, Bishop Gorman performed well against the reigning high school national champions. The Gaels held Mater Dei to 7 points in the first half of the game, scoring 14 unanswered points in the first quarter.

With stand-out performances from players like junior TE Elijah Loften and Senior WR Zachariah Branch, The Gaels have a lot to build upon as they travel to Hawaii and prepare to take on the St. Louis Crusaders.

St. Louis is coming off their second game of the year and their first win of the season. The Crusaders had a high-scoring performance from their offense as they scored 49 points and defensively contained their opponent to just 6 points in their first victory of the season.

With both teams coming in with 1-1 records, Friday’s out-of-state game should be competitive as both teams look to double their win totals and gain momentum for the rest of the season.
