The Silverado Skyhawks took on the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks and from the very first series showed why they are the class of the 4A Division. The Skyhawks scored on their fourth play of the game, a 50-yard run from their outstanding running back Caden Harris. Harris had three rushing touchdowns in the first half en route to a 54-13 halftime lead.

The play of the first half was a John Agounke 108-yard interception return for a touchdown. The distance was impressive, but the run after the interception was a mixture of heart, hustle, and a will to score. Agounke was in zone coverage and baited the pass, just as time expired in the first half. He broke tackles as he took the pick across the field for the touchdown.

Against the Diamondbacks Friday night, Silverado once again scored on all three phases, offense, defense, and on a punt return for a touchdown, showing why they are one of the most balanced teams in Las Vegas. On the season, the Skyhawks outscored their league opponents 315-38. They are the clear-cut favorites for the 4A crown, as they get ready for the playoffs.

Bishop Gorman pounds Foothill 59-0 keeping their scoreless streak against other Las Vegas high schools in tact.

In a game that was supposed to decide the Class 5A Desert League title, Bishop Gorman showed once again why they are the top-ranked team in the FSM Prep Rally Top 10. As they have all year against their Vegas competition, the Gaels ended the game in the first 5 minutes. Sophomore quarterback Micah Alejado connected with Zachariah Branch for an 86-yard touchdown just three minutes into the game. The route was on from there.

Gorman scored on each of its first-half possessions to take a 43-0 lead into halftime. Alejado completed all seven of his first-half passes for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns while throwing touchdown passes to Maleik Pabon and Elijah Lofton.

We had no doubt we could win,” Bishop Gorman head coach Brent Browner said. “But the important thing was to win the league at the 5A level.

“That’s a good team we beat right there,” Browner said. “It was all about execution for us. We changed some things during the week. The kids only had a couple days to practice a lot of stuff, and they executed at a high level. We just want to make sure we’re executing no matter what the score is, everyone has taken part in the success we’ve had.”

UNLV commit Jayden Maiava passed for 218 yards and three touchdowns, and Germie Bernard has a 72-yard touchdown, returned a punt for a 65-yard touchdown for Liberty in their 49-7 rout of the Jaguars. The Patriots took a 42-0 lead with 1:36 left in the second quarter, prompting the referee to immediately call for a running clock rather than wait until the second half.

We stressed all week that we wanted to win this game in dominating fashion and to win a division championship and start getting ready for the playoffs,” Liberty head coach Rich Muraco said. “I felt like this was our best game we’ve played all year. We’re peaking at the right time.”

He’s (Bernard) the best player in the state, in my opinion,” Muraco said. “He can be an all-state safety if he wanted to be. He can be a running back, quarterback, receiver, whatever he wants to be.”
