The Aces haven’t figured out a way to stop Seattle. Las Vegas trails in series 2-0.

 

 

The Storm shoot lights out once again as they are too powerful for the Aces defeating Las Vegas 104-91 in Game 2.  

It was the 5th time this season the Storm have scored 100 points or more. Seattle shot exceptionally well in Game 1, shooting 50% from the field, yet they shot even better in Game 2, shooting 57% as a team.

The Aces are now on the brink of elimination and will have to make history to come back and win the Finals.

 

 

 

Two great offenses were on display in Game 2 on Sunday.

 

 

Defense was not a significant factor in Game 2 as both teams shot over 50% from the field and over 40% from beyond the arc. So far, in the two games we’ve seen in this series, both teams have shot the ball great.

A big reason both these teams are in The WNBA Finals is because of their depth. It was on display in game 2.

The Aces had four players in double-digits scoring. A’ja Wilson had a much better performance in Game 2, leading the Aces with 20 points on 8-17 shooting. She also did her thing on the glass with seven rebounds and two blocks. Angel McCoughtry had 17 points, and Kayla McBride had 14 points on 4 made three-pointers. Las Vegas shot the deep ball well again, making 8 of their 19 three-pointers. Although the Aces shot effectively from beyond the arc, they only got to the free-throw line 5 times compared to Seattle, getting to the line 15 times. Emma Cannon contributed 17 points from the bench as well.

The Storm had five players in double-digits scoring, including three players with over 20 points. Breanna Stewart followed up her 37 point night in Game 1 with 22 points on Sunday. Sue Bird had 16 points to go along with another ten assists. Alysha Clark and Natasha Howard each had 21 points. Seattle is a frightening team when they have multiple players playing in good form as they currently are.

 

 

The Aces must now win the next three as the Storm are a win away from becoming champions.

 

 

The Storm are now one win away from bringing their 4th championship back to Seattle. Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart have been a force in the postseason and will look to finish it off and lift the trophy in Game 3.

The Aces will have to make defensive adjustments to get back into this series as they cannot continue to give up over 100 points. Head Coach Bill Laimbeer was asked about how his team can ignore the narrative that the series is over and that Seattle is one win away.

“Well, every time a team is in this position, that is the narrative that it’s going to be. We know that. I’ve been down that road numerous times, both as a player and a coach. All we are going to do is be ourselves and internally hang together. Everybody on the outside will say it’s over, it’s over, it’s over. It ain’t over. We have to win one game. That’s our focus, to win one game. We don’t care about the series right now. We need to win one game so we can live for another day.”

The Aces will take it one game at a time to try and get back in this series, while the Storm will try to become the 2020 WNBA champions.

 

 

The Storm look to win 4th title in franchise history on Tuesday.
