The Aces get a big win and force a decisive game 5.

 

The two most exciting words in sports, game 7. Although in this case, game 5. The Las Vegas Aces and Connecticut Sun will now play a win or go home game five after the Aces 84 to 75 victory in game 4.

No team has won two games in a row this series as the Aces will try to change that on Tuesday. The Connecticut Sun will try to continue their underdog story while the Aces will try to show why they are the number 1 seed and the best team in the league in the regular season.

 

 

The Aces excellent shooting led to game 4 victory.

 

 

The Aces bounced back after a sloppy ending to game three that consisted of a total of 15 turnovers with a much more Vegas-like style of play. Las Vegas only turned the ball over seven times. The Aces had a different leading scorer for the first time this series as Angel McCoughtry led the way for the Aces with 29 points. A’ja Wilson, although not leading her team in scoring, led her team with 13 rebounds and had an outstanding overall performance. She finished with 18 points.  

The Aces shot the ball exceptionally well on Sunday, shooting 47% from the field as a team. Every single starter for the Aces shot 50% or above. The starting 5 contributed 80 of the 84 points scored for the Aces as 4 of the five starters had double-digit scoring. Danielle Robinson had 18 just like Wilson, and Kayla McBride had 11.

For the Sun, it wasn’t a terrible game as they shot the ball 41 percent. Jasmine Thomas had another big game, just like her game one performance scoring 25 leading the way for Connecticut. Like Las Vegas, the Sun also had four starters in double-digit scoring as the bench wasn’t much of a factor for either side. DeWanna Bonner had a cold shooting night, scoring 10 points on 3-11 shooting, but she did lead the game with 15 rebounds. 

Connecticut led the game by 1 point at halftime as the first half was a tight back and forth match up. A big 3rd quarter for the Aces really separated the game as they outscored the Sun 28 to 16 in the third quarter carrying a 63 to 54 lead into the fourth. The Sun weren’t able to get much closer in the final quarter as the Aces held on.

 

 

The Game 5 winner moves on to the WNBA Finals against the Seattle Storm.

 

 

It has been a tight battle between these two teams the first four games of the series, and game five should be no different.

For the Aces, getting big-time scoring from players other than A’ja Wilson will be critical. They happened to get that in game four, thanks to the play from Angel McCoughtry and Danielle Robinson, who the Aces will be leaning on to play significant factors in game 5.

Game 5 will be on Tuesday, with the winner heading to the WNBA Finals to play the #2 seed Seattle Storm who are coming off an impressive three-game sweep of the Minnesota Lynx.
