My name is Aniea Collins and I am honored to cover The Las Vegas Aces on behalf of Franchise Sports Media. I am a Las Vegas native and have longed for a professional sports team in Clark County for ages. When uttering the phrase “Las Vegas sports”, there’s no question that The Aces start the conversation. Moving from Utah to San Antonio and then Las Vegas, it is clear that this franchise has found its home. After the team secured its spot in Sin City, other professional sports such as hockey and football soon joined the wave. This created a new sports realm in Las Vegas. It has been incredible to witness the WNBA expansion team and watch this franchise blossom.

I previously had the pleasure of covering the 2019 WNBA Las Vegas Aces Draft Party. It was a privilege to experience The Aces’ fan culture and to see the support the community pours into the organization. It was thrilling to speak with Head Coach, Bill Lambieer and get his take on what his team is bringing to the WNBA for the second season. The city of Las Vegas and The Aces took the city’s sports presence to a higher level by hosting the 2019 WNBA All-Star Weekend. This just shows how much of a contribution Las Vegas has dedicated to the city, sports, and the WNBA.

I have witnessed several games at the Mandalay Bay Events Arena and the energy that the faculty and players exude gives fans and spectators an experience that they never forget. I am eager to cover these games, highlight overall game play, and bridge the gap between players and the public. These are real women on the court. Real women with real stories and real lives. These ladies just so happen to be professional athletes living in the desert and playing in Sin City. I want to unpack their stories so the public knows their lives beyond the pinewood. Since The Las Vegas Aces debut season, the franchise has made their community presence felt and heard. The organization has conducted local Christmas parties and given back to the community through charitable donations.

The Las Vegas Aces are forever a staple in Southern Nevada and will be revered. From the moment the news broke of the expansion team headlining Las Vegas, I had the goal to align myself with the franchise. Thanks to Franchise Sports Media, this goal is now obtainable.
