Runnin’ Rebels (11-9, 6-1) | UNR Wolf Pack (11-8, 4-3)

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (11-9) and the Nevada Wolf Pack (11-8) will be squaring off on January 22, 2020, 8:00pm PT at Lawlor Events Center in Reno

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are coming off a commanding win in their last outing against New Mexico 99-78. Bryce Hamilton had a dominating performance, having his way on the offensive end by scoring 35 points. Also, Marvin Coleman chipped in as well, showing an astounding effort on both sides of the floor as he bagged a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

UNLV is coming into this matchup with the momentum on their side, having won four out of their last five games and currently sitting in second in the Mountain West Conference with a 6-1 record. The Rebels are being led by guard Amauri Hardy, who is averaging 14.8 points per game, and 3.7 assists per game to go along with it.

Cheikh Mbacke Diong remains as the big man in the paint leading the team in rebounds at 9 per game. The Rebels shoot 43.5 percent from the floor and corral 39.3 rebounds per game.

As for the Nevada Wolf Pack, however, they are still trying to find themselves this season after coming off a double-digit loss to #4 San Diego St. 68-55. Wolf Pack guard Jalen Harris led the team in scoring as he tallied 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and three assists. Lindsey Drew led the team in rebounds with 9. All while the rebound leader of this season has been Jalen Harris. Nevada shoots 43.2 percent from the field and brings down 37.5 rebounds per game. Harris is currently averaging 18 points per game and 6.3 rebounds. Drew leads the team in assists at 4.4 per game.

This is a game between two rival teams, with a lot of emotion behind it as well. UNLV is looking like a much more promising team compared to the beginning of the season, in which the credit goes towards the team’s offense, scoring 98 and 99 points in each of their last two matchups. Nevada, on the other hand, is looking to put an end to UNLV’s high scoring affair, especially in front of their home crowd.

As Reno is only allowing 71 points from the opposition so far this season, it may be tough for UNLV to score that 98 points in this matchup. Still, with the hot streak they’ve been on as of late, the chances of them stealing this game on the road is high. Especially against a Nevada team who is still trying to figure things out.
