Terence “Bud” Crawford (37-0 28 KO’s) will be putting his WBO (World Boxing Organization) title on the line against “Showtime” Shawn Porter (31-3-1 17 KO’s) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Two of the best boxers at 147lbs, Crawford is ranked as the 4th best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, while Porter, a former two-time welterweight champion, is consistently among the elite in the division. This matchup has been a long time coming due to both fighters being in different promotions. However, Crawford with Top Rank and Porter with Premier Boxing Champions finally agreed, and now these two will step inside the ring to see who’s the better fighter.

One of the most well-rounded boxers in the world, Crawford has shown through his career that every time he steps in the ring, it’s not just a show to see, but he continues to get better and better. Although he’s a southpaw fighter, he has shown an ability to fight from both positions and be equally effective.

While having a more technical and fundamental style of fighting, once Crawford smells blood in the water, he zeros in and goes for the finish hence his 28 knockouts in 37 fights. Although bud can box on the outside and keep his opponents at a distance with his precious jab and thunderous right, he doesn’t mind getting in close and fighting in a phone booth digging to the body and wearing the opposition down over the fight.

With his combination of boxing technique, power, and footwork, “Bud” Crawford has been on the rise of best boxers in the world and is looking to add to his resume to put his name amongst the greats to fight in the welterweight division over the years.

Standing across from Crawford will be “Showtime” Shawn Porter who has earned the name due to his exciting come-forward style of fighting. Porter likes to put the pressure on his opponents maintaining a pace that as the rounds go on, continues to wear you down.

While Porter likes to apply pressure, he has shown that he can stand and box with the best of them. His quick hands, head movement, and ability to thrust forward in a quick fashion make him a tough matchup for everyone he faces. A true, tough, and gritty warrior, Porter is always a fighter you tune in to watch as the action is non-stop. And if an opponent is willing to stand and trade, Porter is more than willing to oblige and deliver.

Porter has the experience of being a former two-time champion and fighting some of the best the division has to offer, so stepping on the big stage against one of the best will not be new to him, and he’ll be ready for a war.

Both have plenty to show and prove as Porter wants to show he can once again be champion while Crawford is taking on the biggest challenge of his career and wants to show he’s different from his contemporaries.

Who will be able to enforce their will first? Can Crawford maintain distance and out-box Porter? Will Porter be able to provide the kind of pressure Bud has yet to see and prove to be too much? Can we see Crawford withstand that pressure and show he’s more than willing to face the fire and hold his own? Can Showtime make a surprise switch and throw something new at Crawford he may not have expected?

All these questions and more will be answered Saturday night.

Crawford vs Porter can watch the pay-per-view event on ESPN Plus. The main card starts at 6pm, with Crawford and Porter expected to ring walk at approximately 8pm.
