Lights FC vs Fresno FC

In a tight playoff race, wins are crucial, and Las Vegas Lights FC earns a huge win Saturday night over Fresno FC. The second-best team in the USL Western Conference traveled down to Las Vegas and loss in upset fashion to Lights FC, 3-1.

The victory now gives Las Vegas 35 points on the season and can hopefully bump them up in the standings. Lights FC is now winning the season series with Fresno FC, 2-1-1.

Fresno FC actually got on the board first on a goal by Alex Cooper in 17′. But that would be the only goal for Fresno as it was all Lights for the rest of the match.

Cristian Martinez tied things up right away in 21′, leading with the match going into halftime tied 1-1.

In the second half, Preston Tabortetaka scored on a beautiful header past Fresno’s goalkeeper in 58′, to put Las Vegas up 2-1.

Later in the match, Irvin Parra got tackled in the box to earn a penalty kick, which he took advantage of. Parra’s PK glided to the right of the goalkeeper and into the net in 71′ for the commanding 3-1 lead.

With that last goal, Parra increases his goal total as top scorer for Lights FC with 11 goals on the season.

Las Vegas now hits the road to face Austin Bold FC, on Sunday, September 22nd, at 4 pm. Austin currently sits at 5th place in the western conference, with 40 points.
