The Dodgers continue the path of dominance as they win another series. Games with pitching and games with hitting, all amounting to one thing, winning. With this series win, it will be the last time they face the Giants this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants Series #10

Game 1 Loss 8-10

Both lineups had the other team’s pitchers game plans because balls were flying out and all around the yard. Julio Urias (4 IP, 6 H’s, 4 ER’s, 3 BB’s, 6 SO) and Johnny Cueto (4 IP, 8 H’s, 6 ER’s, 1 BB, 6 SO) both only lasted four innings, and a had a tough time on the mound. Cueto’s woes started from the first inning as Corey Seager hit a single, followed by a hard double from Justin Turner and then a birthday present for Max Muncy as he hit a three-run blast to put the Dodgers up early in the first inning.

However, Urias would begin to stutter in the first inning when the Giants would tie up the game with a three-run shot of their own by Brandon Belt, who had a phenomenal showing at the plate. Belt is my pick for the player of the game. No doubt that Belt’s at-bats were vital in the Giant’s victory in this game.

Justin Turner (6 AB, 4 H’s, 3 R’s, 1 RBI) and Max Muncy (4 AB, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB’s) had great showings tonight at the plate, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough to overcome the momentum of the Giants 6-game win streak. The game became a seesaw battle of hits starting in the later innings, and with a home run from Belt in the 9th, coming in the clutch to keep the Giants night alive.
The game would finally be decided in the 11th with a walk-off 2-run homer from Donovan Solano to give the Giants the win, their 7th straight.

Game 2 – Win 7-0

As the same with four other MLB teams on this day, players throughout all of the sports decided not to play in protest of the shooting by police of another unarmed black man, Jacob Blake, in Wisconsin. Signifying a united stance against racism and social injustice, The Giants and Dodgers agreed to postpone game 2 of their series, and instead play a traditional doubleheader on Thursday, seven innings in length.

The Dodgers had their ace on the mound, Clayton Kershaw, and he was in dominant form as he put an end to the Giants’ hot winning streak. Kershaw threw six scoreless innings, and behind him, he had quite a lot of help from the Dodgers incredible defense in the outfield and infield alike. Every time you thought the ball would get down for a hit, a Dodger was there to make the catch.

Cody Bellinger playing center field, turned on the jets in the first inning to make a massive catch off of Wilmer Flores that no doubt would have been extra bases and an RBI., With the out, Mike Yastrzemski had to make his way back to first, a glimpse of what the Giants had to deal with all game.
The Dodgers broke the game open in the fourth inning when Joc Pederson would single to bring in a run, followed by a double by Austin Barnes to bring in two more, and Corey Seager with another single to make the game 5-0. It was great hitting from the Dodgers, hards hit balls all over the field, with the only home run being from AJ Pollock in the 7th. Mookie Betts attained a personal achievement by getting his 1000th career hit in this game, and it sure won’t be the last.

Game 3 – Win 2-0

In the final game of the series, part two of this doubleheader, the Dodgers were going to rely on their bullpen for the game’s entirety. Joc Pederson homered in the 2nd inning to put the Dodgers on the board first, and Will Smith doubled in the 4th to bring in another run.
The Dodgers burned through seven pitching arms to blank the Giants and win the series. The Giants now have a hill to climb to see the Dodgers again in the postseason, while the Dodgers keep cementing their spot with series wins.

Texas Rangers Series Preview

The Dodgers travel to Arlington, Texas, to face the struggling Texas Rangers. Their Struggles are heavily related to their pitching staff. The Rangers have lost their last two series and will be facing off against in incredibly hot Dodgers lineup, with a filthy lights-out bullpen. The Rangers are looking to gain back their momentum; in baseball, anything can happen.
