Throughout the combat sports world, there are many champions. But there is one title reserved for a specific group of individuals. The title of Baddest Man on the Planet goes to whomever the Heavyweight champion of the world is.

At UFC 252, we find out who not only the Baddest Man on the Planet really is, but we could also see who might be the greatest of all time to hold such a title.

UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (19-3 15 KO’s) looks to defend his title and against the toughest challenge to his throne, former two-division champion, Daniel Cormier (22-2 10 KO’s). This trilogy bout between two of the sports best will finally settle the 1-1 tie they have and give us clarity as to who truly is the BMP (Baddest Man on the Planet).

These two warriors will step in the octagon for the third time with the title on the line. Both are looking to win the series as they each hold a win over the other. DC knocking out Miocic back at UFC 226 in the first round made him at the time, only the second fighter to hold two titles simultaneously (Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight). This win gave the former Olympic wrestler out of Oklahoma State a boost into all-time great status.

Returning the favor at UFC 241, Miocic would regain his belt with a fourth-round TKO. Before losing the title, Stipe had defended the strap a UFC division record three times in a row. It just goes to show how hard it is to stay on top amongst the big boys.

What started out as a friendly rivalry has turned into a bitter feud where both men have taken shots at the other.

Stipe is claiming the DC was purposely holding out for over a year before granting him a rematch for his title. DC then started throwing shade back at Stipe, saying Miocic was a sore loser and full of excuses.

One foul on the feud is DC has poked the eyes of Miocic in both fights. A problem with MMA gloves given the fingers are open, and you can extend your hand fully with fingers exposed.

This is has been a problem throughout the sport, and intentional or not, an eye poke affects the fighter for the remainder of the bout. Neither man is known for making excuses for any shortcomings. Both have acknowledged how tough, and great the other is and the mistakes they made in both losses.

With so much on the line, a title, legacy, and for DC, this could very well be his last fight, a chance to go out on top. Two of the sports all-time best will be highly motivated to leave the octagon Saturday night with some new jewelry and their names etched in the record books one more time.

In the night’s co-main event, one of the sports rising young stars returns to actions as Suga Sean O’Malley (12-0 8 KO’s) takes on Marlon Vera (15-6 8 SUB’s).

Suga is looking to make it 3-0 on the year and a quick turn around from his last showing in the cage back in June at UFC 250. He’ll have to do so against a very game and tough Vera, who is 5-1 in his last 6 UFC bouts. O’Malley is clearly on the rise to stardom with his very open personality, exciting fight style, highlight finishes, colorful hair and tattoos, and one of the best nicknames in combat sports, ‘Suga.’

The sky is the limit, but with each fight, the competition is going to get tougher and tougher. So far, Suga has shown to be able to handle it with ease, but all that can change in one night, and Vera is looking to be the one to bring the kid back down to reality and hand him his first professional loss.

UFC 252 will be a good one folks, a true legacy bout headlines an exciting card, so be sure to tune in. Check back here on franchisesportsmedia.com for the recap and more in the world of combat sports.
