First place Phoenix Rising FC traveled over to Las Vegas Wednesday night to play against Las Vegas Lights FC. It would be a tough match for Lights FC as Rising FC had won 18 straight matches going into Wednesday. While Phoenix sits atop the USL Western Conference, Las Vegas is currently stuck at 14th place.
Lights FC played tough throughout the match and gave Phoenix a good fight, especially for them being one of the best in the league. Manager Eric Wynalda instilled an aggressive game plan that kept Rising FC on their toes but was unsuccessful in finding the net.
The difference in the match came in at 62′ when Adam Jahn scored the only goal for Phoenix to win the match 1-0.
Las Vegas now has to gather themselves and prepare to face the next best club in the conference, Fresno FC. The second-best team in the western conference will come to Cashman Field to take on Lights FC on Saturday.
