FSM Essential Recap – Raiders vs Dolphins – NFL Week 11 – 2023
The Raiders traveled to Miami to take on the Dolphins on Sunday. The Raiders defense showed up, but the offense struggled in a 20-13 loss in South Beach.

The Las Vegas Raiders look like a rejuvenated team under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. On Sunday, he had his toughest test as the head coach when the Silver and Black traveled down to Miami to take on the explosive Dolphins.
The Raiders entered Week 11 with a chance to go over .500 for the first time since early September. With the way that they have been playing, Raider Nation had high hopes entering the game and looked for an upset win.
Things have looked good for the Raiders under Pierce. Last week, they beat the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football, and a week earlier, they beat the New York Giants in Pierce’s first game running the show.
The Miami Dolphins, on the other hand, are one of the NFL’s most explosive and fast teams. But they looked like a completely different team when they took on the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany. The defending champions contained that offense.
Coming off of the bye week and facing a Raiders team whose offense has struggled up until recent weeks may have been just what the doctor ordered for Miami. Would the Raiders‘ offense step up to the challenge, and can their defense slow down the high-powered Dolphins‘ attack?
The Raiders vs Dolphins was a Week 11 NFL matchup.
The Raiders and Dolphins looked like a mismatch on paper, but the Silver and Black’s defense was up to the task and nearly upset one of the AFC’s best teams.
The Raiders vs Dolphins saw the Silver and Black try to upset Miami on South Beach.
It was a rough day for rookie quarterback Aiden O’Connell, who threw three interceptions, including a game-sealing pick in the game’s final minutes. But on the bright side, the Raiders’ defense once again looked good, and this time against one of the NFL‘s best offenses.
It was a tale of two halves for Las Vegas. In the first half, the offense put up 133 yards and a touchdown. Davante Adams was able to score the Raiders‘ only touchdown on a 46-yard touchdown reception from O’Connell, and it was also the Raiders‘ longest play of the day. That gave the Silver and Black a 10–7 lead with 2 seconds left in the first quarter.
But in the second quarter, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected with running back Salvon Ahmed for a touchdown, giving Miami a 14-10 lead just before halftime.
The Raiders had a chance to tie or win the game in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter. Down 20–13, the Raiders got the ball with just under two minutes remaining in the game. O’Connell drove his team down the field, but he threw his third interception of the day, sealing the Raiders’ fate. Jalen Ramsey intercepted O’Connell in the end zone with 22 seconds left in the game.
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught ten passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. Even missing part of the game because of a hand injury, the Raiders secondary had no answers for the speedster.
O’Connell completed 24–41 passes for 271 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Adams led all Raiders pass catchers with seven catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. Jakobi Meyers caught four passes for 49 yards; Hunter Renfrow had five catches for 42 yards, and rookie tight end Michael Mayer had four for 46 yards.
Running back Josh Jacobs struggled against Miami as the Dolphins held him to just 39 yards on 14 carries to go along with 12 yards receiving on one pass reception.
The turnovers were too much to overcome for Las Vegas, who fell to 5–6 on the year. The good news is they are still in the hunt in the AFC Wild Card race. The bad news is they play the Chiefs next week.
The final score was 20-13, the Dolphins over the Raiders.
The Raiders will host the Kansas City Chiefs in a Week 12 matchup at Allegiant Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1:25 p.m., and the game can be seen on CBS.
