In the early first quarter, both teams exchanged leads back and forth. Role players stepped up all night. When Danny Green hit a three, Duncan Robinson would hit a three as well. The Lakers capitalized off a major play when LeBron James threw a perfect high-pitched airborne shot to Anthony Davis, who finished it with an alley-oop. Moments later, the Heat decided to play Kendrick Nunn, who hit a three shortly after, putting the score at 20-18 for the Heat.

When down 22-20, Davis blocked Jimmy Butler going for a layup and passed it to Green, who finished the fast break with a layup to tie the game. Shortly after that, Davis was seen grabbing his right ankle after going for an offensive rebound. It was later revealed that he hit his ankle on Robinson’s knee while jumping. He rushed off the court and laid on the floor for a bit. The good news is that he was taken to the bench area, and doctors were not seen around him.

Davis maintained at the bench for the start of the second quarter. It was reported that he would be available to return later, to the relief of Laker Nation. The Heat started to run away with a bit of a lead after that. They put themselves up 31-24 after a couple of Laker turnovers. Butler began to hit every jump shot and layup he took, putting the Heat up by 11. Davis came back in with  6 minutes left in the quarter.  After trailing by 11, the Lakers got two stops, which ended up in 4 fast break points. That sparked a comeback as James would begin to play more aggressively. That ended up with the Lakers trailing by just 4 points.

The third quarter started with Davis hitting a three, Robinson hitting one, then James hitting one. The Heat improved their defense, and Butler kept playing well, which kept them in the lead for most of the quarter. Later, James made another three to bring the Lakers to within 5. Davis was found in the paint afterward, bringing them to a 3-point deficit. Kyle Kuzma hit a layup after that to bring them within one. That rally was shut down when Jae Crowder hit a three immediately after. The Lakers never grabbed the lead in the quarter after that and finished the third quarter trailing 88-82.

The fourth quarter started with Robinson hitting a three to give the Heat a 91-82 lead. James tried to be a bully in the paint to bring them back, but he either ended up turning the ball over or the Heat forced him to commit an offensive foul. Robinson started heating up even more in the 4th quarter, which proved to be a problem for the Lakers.

Despite that, James kept the game close along with Davis. AD kept drawing fouls to get the Lakers back into the game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit a three down 96-94 to give the Lakers their first lead for a long time. With the Heat down 99-98, Butler got an and-one call reversed due to a personal foul. Robinson hit a three right after, giving the Heat a 101-99 lead. With Los Angeles down 103-101, James got an and-one and made the free throw to give the Lakers the lead. It continued to go back and forth, but the Lakers couldn’t capitalize, down by one point with 16 seconds left.

The Lakers lost this game because they had 15 turnovers and couldn’t stop Butler. Butler had 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. They also allowed Robinson to have a fantastic game. He had 26 points shooting 8 for 15 from the floor. James did everything he could, putting up 40 points and 13 rebounds. Davis put up 28 points and 12 rebounds, but it just wasn’t enough.

The Lakers played a good game but Butler just could not be stopped.  Game 6 is scheduled for Sunday at 6:00 pm and it airs on ABC.
