FSM Essential Recap: UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs Sandhagen – 10/10/2020
https://franchisesportsmedia.com
Two of UFC’s top bantamweights squared off to get even closer to a title shot, with Marlon Moraes vs. Cory Sandhagen as the UFC Fight Night headliner at “Fight Island.”

Both fighters wasted no time getting after it early in the main event. Moraes and Sandhagen started trading powerful low kicks and stood in the pocket, exchanging strikes in Round 1. There was high output on both ends, with both men trying to end it early. Moraes was loading up on heavy strikes while Sandhagen threw many kicks and even mixed in flying knee attempts. Nothing landed clean enough to stagger the other, but Sandhagen’s movement and volume were strong as it forced Moraes to miss a lot and waste energy. Moraes got a late takedown in Round 1, but with no time to work before the end of the round.
At the start of Round 2, Sandhagen came out intending to end the fight. He landed some stiff jabs and went high with his kicks. Sandhagen yelled out that he broke Moraes’ orbital bone before chasing him down. Sandhagen loaded up on a right spinning wheel kick that clipped Moraes on the side of the head, and he fell to the canvas. After a few follow-up shots, the referee stepped in at the 1:03 mark of Round 2.
But Joaquin Buckley delivered one of the most unbelievable, and arguably greatest knockouts in UFC history with a flying spinning back kick to the face of Impa Kasanganay.

Some things you see in video games or movies and they look unbelievable. So when you see one of those things live in a match, it leaves you speechless. We saw one of those moves last night when Buckley had arguably the greatest UFC knockout ever. The middleweight delivered the “Knockout of the Year” with a flying spinning back kick to the face. It was nuts!
The shocking move came when Kasanganay caught a kick attempt by Buckley, who instinctively spun to his opposite side a fired off a back kick that caught his opponent flush. Kasanganay was knocked out on his feet and seemed frozen in time from the brutal kick for several seconds before his body collapsed to the canvas in a heap.

Watch the Knockout!
The knockout came in the second round of their fight on the prelims card, but it certainly won’t have much competition for a Performance of the Night bonus. More than likely, it will be in the conversation for “Knockout of the Year” and undoubtedly be played on highlight reels for years to come.
“New Mansa” bounced back after a knockout loss to Kevin Holland in his UFC debut in August. The loss will certainly be overshadowed by one of the most surreal finishes ever seen in the Octagon.
The rest of the UFC Fight Night card went like this:
