Committed: UNLV Men’s Basketball - Keshon Gilbert | Franchise Sports Media

I’m running out of superlatives to describe how impressive UNLV’s local pipeline has become. The recent slew of native Las Vegan’s committing to the hometown team has been nothing less than staggering. TJ Otzelberger and his savvy recruiting staff have now landed their 4th local in as many months since they took over coaching duties for the Runnin’ Rebels. This time it was 2021 point guard Keshon Gilbert who decided that home was where his heart is.

Gilbert is 6’2 and is a 3-star prospect. His skill set is that of a dynamic passer, who can really knock down the 3 ball with regularity. He plays his high school ball at Durango High School and his AAU ball with the Las Vegas Knicks (The club that produced 2020 Rebel commit Nick Blake as well). Gilbert took a visit to UNLV last month and afterward gushed about his strong relationship with the UNLV coaches. That’s been the common denominator with all the players who have pledged under Otzelberger.

The other schools that coveted Gilbert were Fresno State, UNR, and Long Beach State. Beating out conference rivals is a nice bonus, particularly when it’s for your floor general of the future.
