New FSM Feature: Rebel Vision 22: Deuces Wild 22 UNLV Football Adds Trenton Holloway
The Rebels added a safety in Trenton Hollway from City College of San Francisco on Saturday morning.
Marcus Arroyo and his UNLV football staff once again added a player that they hope will contribute sooner rather than later in City College of San Francisco safety Trenton Holloway. The 6’2, 200 lb safety from Clovis, California, made his commitment to the Rebels public on Saturday morning after committing on Friday afternoon while on his visit.
He will be attending classes on Monday and be available for Spring Football.
Holloway, who attended Clovis North High School before going to CCSF, chose UNLV after receiving offers from Hawai’i, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Eastern Carolina, and Charlotte. He was rated as the third-best safety at the Juco level. 247 Sports ranked him the 107th best Juco player, 11th best safety overall, and 20th best player in California with a composite rating of .8000.
Last season Holloway played in 11 games where he had 56 tackles, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, with one of those returned for a touchdown. He joins two CCSF teammates, wide receiver Jeffery Weimer and linebacker Fred Thompkins, as CCSF players who committed to UNLV this recruiting cycle.
The Rebels adding Holloway was key to their safety depth. With returners Phil Hill, Jonathan Baldwin, Jaylen Lane, Bryce Jackson, and Tyson Player, along with high touted ’22 commit Anthony Costanzo, UNLV will have even more depth and talent in their safeties room. It is expected for Holloway to come in and compete for significant playing time.
This is what I see on film when watching Trenton Holloway
Holloway is a playmaker who is always around the ball, which shows just how instinctive he is. He has fluid hips and an explosive burst to the ball, and he attacks the ball carrier with ferocity. He can play in space or closer to the line-of-scrimmage, and he can line up over a slot receiver or tight end and cover them.
Holloway plays the ball aggressively and goes after it when the ball is in the air. He has good hands and plucks the ball out of the air with ease. He also has the speed to show one coverage and drop back to play deep. Holloway’s skill set fits UNLV’s defense perfectly, and they now have the type of safties needed for their defense, which was a weakness last year.
He has the type of skill set that is interchangeable. The Rebels can have Holloway line-up next to Hill, Baldwin, Costanzo, or Jackson and not be a square peg in a round hole. He projects more of a Free Safety, which would allow UNLV to play Hill, or Jarrae Williams, in the slot and closer to the line-of-scrimmage.
I had a Power-5 coach text me shortly after Holloway committed, and this is what he said. “Y’all got a savage in Trenton, UNLV won!! When he’s on, he’s a BALLER!” he said. “I went to watch him several times, and he has all the skills to be elite. I like what I see! UNLV is landing some ballers! I am looking forward to seeing a good season next year from coach Arroyo and his team!”
Marcus Arroyo and the Rebels are continuing to add talent to their roster. UNLV is getting deeper and adding more talent already to their roster. The Rebels are going ALL IN!
