The road trip continues, but the dominance continues for the Vegas Golden Knights, securing their second straight victory over the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise Center.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored his first NHL goal, and goaltender Jiri Patera made his debut with the Vegas Golden Knights, finishing with 30 saves.

They were trying to play rush hockey,Patera said. “It’s not always ideal for a goaltender, but we kept them on the outside, and I saw all the shots, so the guys made it a lot easier for me.

Also, Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, Micheal Amadio, and Alex Pietrangelo each scored to help Vegas for their sixth victory in seven games.

The win expanded their lead by three over the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division standings.

Jordan Kyrou, Jakub Vrana, and Tyler Pitlik scored for the Blues. At one point, the Blues had tied the game in the third period 3-3.

We’re playing some good hockey,” Blues coach Craig Berube said. “We did some real good things in the offensive zone tonight. I really liked our game. It was unfortunate we didn’t get the win.

Eight minutes into the first period, William Karlsson put the Golden Knights on the board first after backhanding the shot past Jordan Binnington for a 1-0 lead.

The play that turned into a goal was caused by Pavel Dorofeyev, causing the turnover forechecking Blues defenseman Nick Leddy.

He was on the puck a lot,Cassidy said of Dorofeyev. “He created a turnover on the first goal with foot speed. I thought on his off-wing, he was able to get in on the inside a lot, to be dangerous there, went into traffic. He was kind of slippery around there.

With the tied being tied going into the second period, the 1-1 score did not last long at all, with 28 seconds into the second when Jonathan Marchessault scored from the bottom of the right circle for a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes later, Michael Amadio scored from a rebound to extend the lead to 3-1 for Vegas.

One was a tough bounce off the rebound, right to the guy,” Blues coach Craig Berube said. “For me, we weren’t tight enough, just not assertive enough right away.

Jordan Kyrou cut the lead to one goal, 3-2, after a one-timer shot off the rush. At the beginning of the third period, the Blues tied the game 3-3 after a goal from Tyler Pitlik.
But right after, Pavel Dorofeyev scored his first goal after a deflection off his visor to put Vegas back in the lead 4-3.

They scored early on us; they made a nice play,Cassidy said. “We dug in and worked hard to get the next goal. Happy for ‘Pav.’ I thought he had a really good game. Scores off his head, that’s one to remember.

Alex Pietrangelo later scored an empty net goal to make the score 5-3 to ice the game and secure the victory for Vegas.

We just kept playing,Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “It was a good goal by them. I don’t look at it as a huge breakdown after breakdown after breakdown. That’s when you get worried. So they made a good play. They can score, but we also know they can give up some goals, so we just said, let’s stick with it, get back to work, and we did.”

The Golden Knights vs Blues final score was 5-3, Las Vegas.

The Golden Knights will remain on the road when they play against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday. The puck drops at 4:00 pm. The game can be seen on AT&T SportsNet (channel 313 on Cox Cable) or heard on 98.9 FM, FOX Sports Las Vegas 1340 AM.
