The Golden Knights continue to surge on the road as the season is almost at a close. Vegas sweep the Canadian road trip 3-0-0 after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtime at Rogers Place.

Nicolas Roy scored the game-winning goal in overtime after he was left all alone in front of Edmonton goaltender Stuart Skinner, shooting past him after a rebound.

“Gutsy win for us; it’s a divisional game, and I thought we played well,” Eichel said. “It’s a really good team over there, they generate a lot of offense, and I thought we did a really good job limiting them.”

Jonathan Marchessault, Jack Eichel, and Pavel Dorofeyev also scored for Vegas. The victory for the Golden Knights improves them to 17-3-2 since the All-Star break.

“It’s a big win, big road trip,” Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb said. “They were sneaking up on us, and we were able to get an extra point out of this game. … It felt a little bit like a playoff game, for sure.”

Laurent Brossoit returned to the lineup for the first time since February 27th due to a lower-body injury. Brossoit finished the game with 27 saves.

Zach Hyman, Leon Draisaitl, and Warren Foegele each scored for the Oilers. The game was close as it went into overtime, but Edmonton fell short as their five-game winning streak snapped.

Edmonton is seven points behind the Golden Knights and three ahead of the Seattle Kraken, who currently hold the first wild card spot going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“It was a tight game. It was what you expect in the playoffs,” Draisaitl said. “It is obviously a team that we could face. I think we know how to handle these types of games. Tonight didn’t go our way, but we will take the point.

Draisaitl tied the game 2-2 in the second period after scoring on a power play, shooting past Brossoit.

The game remained tied until the third period after Marchessault scored, shooting a one-timer to retake the lead 3-2.

“We got better as the game went on, and that’s important,” Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We had a day off yesterday, so sometimes it takes a while to get your legs going. Later start the end of the road trip. We were able to get through certain parts of the game when we weren’t our best. What I loved about our team, what we talked about between periods, is that in the third, we were on top of pucks, and we were keeping plays alive in the O-zone. I thought we were the better team in the third period.”

Laurent Brossoit made great saves in the third period, but Warren Foegele tied the game 3-3 after shooting from the top of the right circle.

“It’s disappointing we didn’t get the two points,” Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. “Some of the goals we gave up were preventable. We’re going to take the lessons from tonight and learn from it.”

Going undefeated on the road trip is something the Golden Knights needed going into the playoffs as the season comes to a close. Despite injuries and some setbacks, the Golden Knights are proving why they are again a favorite in the Western Conference.

The Golden Knights vs Oilers final score was 4-3, Vegas.

On Tuesday, the Golden Knights will return home when they play against the Edmonton Oilers at Edmonton Oilers. The puck drops at 7:00 pm. The game can be seen on AT&T SportsNet (channel 313 on Cox Cable) or heard on 98.9 FM, FOX Sports Las Vegas 1340 AM.
